Arthur village is the whole story here: county seat, courthouse, and clerks all in one small place. Court does not sit every day. Call before driving out, since office hours in a county this size can be limited. The clerks keep district court files and county court matters like traffic, small claims, and probate right in town, and can pull a register of actions from a name and an approximate year. The courthouse itself was once famous as the smallest in the country. For a remote look at the Arthur County court docket, the statewide online case search covers both trial court levels.

Arthur County Court Docket Case Numbers

Arthur County is number 91 on the official Nebraska county-number list. That number sits inside every local case number. The court system's own demonstration breaks a trial-court number into parts. It lists a court prefix, the county number, a case type, a two-digit year, and an identifier. County court starts with C. District court starts with D. The prefix matters. Arthur County can track related matters at both trial-court levels.

Take C 91 TR 25 0001234. That is county court, Arthur County, traffic type, a two-digit year, and the identifying number. The live screen may space those parts differently. Case-type labels you may see are CI for civil, CR for criminal, JV for juvenile, PR for probate, SC for small claims, and TR for traffic. When you call a clerk, keep every part of a paper number intact.

C / D
C identifies the county-court layer and D identifies the district-court layer in the official demonstration.
91

ROA

Case type

What a Court Docket Shows

Nebraska's vocabulary overlaps: register of actions, docket entry, case summary, docket report. In an Arthur County result, the register of actions is the time-ordered index. It is not the whole case file. The official case-information description says detail can include parties, criminal offense information, financial information, judge notes, and public document images. An image can be missing. It may be restricted, unavailable, or older than the electronic image scope.

Read with care. The latest signed order and the latest non-cancelled setting outrank any earlier row. A motion is a request, not a ruling. A caption is just a displayed case name, not proof that everyone sharing it is involved. Check the court prefix and county number too. That keeps an Arthur County entry from being confused with a similar result elsewhere in Nebraska.

Arthur County Court Docket and eFiling

Nebraska Judicial Branch eFiling and JUSTICE Search do different jobs. JUSTICE is the public route into trial-court case information. eFiling sends documents to the court. It also offers eService or eNotice to registered users. A filing account login is not the ordinary public way to read an Arthur County register of actions. Do not assume one grants the other.

The split matters most with new cases. A filing can reach the court before the public search batch updates. eNotice may reach a registered participant without making any document public. The sound Arthur County sequence: note the court and case number first. Allow the published lag. Then go through the clerk for a current confirmation or the exact document you need.

Note: An ePayment or eFiling screen can serve a case process. It does not work as a public docket viewer.

Which Courts Keep Dockets in Arthur County

Arthur County splits its trial courts. Arthur County Court holds the county-court records. Those cover traffic, misdemeanors, preliminary felony proceedings, county-court civil matters, small claims, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, adoption, and related matters. Arthur District Court sits in District 11. It keeps the district-level felony and general civil docket plus the applicable appeal path.

A felony can leave an early trail in county court before a district-court case opens. County-court civil jurisdiction currently runs up to $70,000 through June 30, 2030. The statewide small-claims cap is $7,500. Arthur village ordinance complaints go to county court under Nebraska law. The county posts no separate Arthur municipal-court docket.

Arthur County Court Docket in Ogallala

Arthur County Court has an unusual setup. The Judicial Branch lists it c/o Keith County Court, at 511 North Spruce Street, Room 105, Ogallala, Nebraska 69153. Yuri Cole is the clerk. The listed number is 308-284-3693. There is also a monthly window. The listing puts an Arthur County Court office on the second Wednesday of each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M.

That is not a daily counter, and a monthly window may not cover every request. So call before you travel. Identify the C 91 case, then ask whether the record sits in Ogallala, at another location, in paper storage, or behind a different release channel. A precise document date and title will shorten any copy request.

The official Arthur County Court page lays out this county-court contact arrangement.

Pick up the phone first. Because of this listing, an Arthur County county-court record request should begin with a call rather than an assumed courthouse visit.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

Start with the citation, summons, or notice. The most recent order works too. Then scan the case register of actions for a later setting, continuance, reset, or cancellation. The Multi-Court Case Calendar can also help with county-court settings when its selector returns a result. A blank result means little. The calendar itself warns that an untimely entry can affect accuracy, so a no-result never proves there is no court date.

The court holding the case gives the binding answer. One case number can hide several groupings. A motion docket, announcement docket, plea setting, trial setting, or review may sit under a separate calendar label within the same case number. Keep the tools straight, though: a calendar is a snapshot, the register of actions is the case history, and any conflict yields to the latest court order plus a direct confirmation.

The Arthur County court calendar page has detailed search and confirmation steps.

Arthur County District Court Calendar Gap

Arthur District Court is left out of the Multi-Court Case Calendar's district-court results. That is an access limit, nothing more. It does not mean an Arthur District Court case has no setting. Use the ROA in JUSTICE for a district case. Then confirm the latest setting with district clerk Becky Swanson or the assigned court. County-court calendar results cannot fill that gap.

The District 11 directory serves one narrow job. It separates the regional court structure from the case-specific point of contact. Check the current listing before relying on a date. Courts issue later notices, orders, and operational updates. They post no Arthur-specific remote-hearing page, daily calendar PDF, or court-coordinator line.

District 11's official directory identifies the surrounding court and clerk structure.

The directory is background only. For an individual Arthur District Court date, the clerk and the current case record remain the channels that count.

Public Access to Dockets

Nebraska's court-access rules and the Nebraska Public Records Act govern Arthur County trial-court records. Public does not mean unrestricted. Through JUSTICE or a courthouse terminal, anyone may search, then ask the clerk for a specific copy. Some files stay hidden. Sealed, juvenile, adoption, presentence, confidential, and otherwise protected records may not surface in an ordinary search. A visible ROA entry may carry no public document image.

Make your request precise. State the court, the case number, the year and type, the document title, and whether you need a plain or certified copy. A public web image is not automatically certified. If an ordinary clerk request cannot resolve the matter, court policy points to the formal Nebraska Public Records Act route. If access is denied, ask for the legal basis.

Key Rules:

Nebraska Judicial Branch Article 8 describes public electronic court access through public systems, providers, and courthouse terminals.

Neb. Rev. Stat. §84-712 provides for examination and copies of public records, subject to authorized charges and exceptions.

Neb. Rev. Stat. §84-712.01 defines public records and recognizes statutory limits on disclosure.

Neb. Rev. Stat. §84-712.03 describes review and mandamus remedies after a denial.

Arthur County Court Docket Filing Context

Arthur County's annual filing reports give context, not a live docket count. The FY2025 county-court report logged nine adult filings. Five were traffic cases. Two were misdemeanors, one was civil, and one was probate. The district-court report separately logged four adult civil filings for Arthur, with no felony or other-criminal filings in its reported categories.

Those numbers cover one reporting year. They say nothing about records available or people connected. Low volume makes court-level identification matter more. A county-court traffic record and a district-court civil record land in different reporting tables and different clerk channels.

The prior FY2024 county-court total was 23 adult filings, including 16 traffic cases, so a single annual total never predicts current calendar or docket activity. Confirm current entries through JUSTICE or the clerk.

Arthur County Court Docket History

Older Arthur County court records rarely start online. The State Archives inventory covers Arthur County material from 1914 through 1993, including a marriage-record volume and a county-court delayed-birth-registration docket. A search for an old case can lead to a bound volume, microfilm, or an archival request once the clerk points you to the right series.

The county's own history adds color. A 1914 courthouse stood here that may have been the smallest in the United States, measuring just 26 by 28 feet. The county history says the current courthouse replaced it in 1962; the State Historical Society inventory gives 1961. That one-year gap is a source discrepancy. It does not change the practical task of asking the clerk which custodian holds a specific older record. Arthur County's history page records the courthouse story.

That historic paper trail explains why a modern Arthur County docket search sometimes has to continue through the clerk or the State Archives.

Note: The State Archives collection description identifies holdings, not a guarantee that every historical case record is public or complete.

Arthur County Court Docket or Federal Case

Is your case state or federal? An Arthur County case in Nebraska county or district court belongs in JUSTICE. Federal matters are different. They go to the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska. PACER and CM/ECF handle access. The line matters. A federal case number and docket format look nothing like an Arthur C 91 or D 91 number. The county name alone never establishes federal jurisdiction.

For western Nebraska, the practical federal hearing location sits at the Lincoln County Courthouse in North Platte. Federal docket access and federal documents follow federal court rules and fees. That building is not an Arthur County state-court records counter, so state county-court and district-court requests still belong with the proper Arthur clerk. The District of Nebraska's North Platte directory identifies the federal hearing location.

Knowing the federal location helps you keep a separate court system apart from Arthur County's state-court docket channels.

Court Dockets by City in Arthur County

Only one incorporated place appears in Arthur County. The official Census and Secretary of State sources name Arthur village. Its 2020 Census population was 128. The village posts no municipal-court page, city calendar, docket search, or payment portal. Under Nebraska law, village ordinance complaints follow the county-court route, so a city-related case shows up as a county-court C 91 record.

Use the printed citation, JUSTICE, the county-court calendar when available, and Yuri Cole's office. Find the case date or record there. The village contact is not the certified-copy custodian. A village name on a citation does not create a separate city docket system.

Map and Directions to the Arthur County Courthouse

District Court files, including felonies after county-court preliminary proceedings and district-level civil matters, are kept at the Arthur County courthouse, 205 Fir Street, in the village of Arthur, once reported as the smallest courthouse in the country before its early-1960s replacement. Arthur County Court's own docket, covering traffic, misdemeanor, small-claims, and probate matters, is instead handled c/o Keith County Court in Ogallala, roughly 45 miles away, so a county-court file will not be at this address.
